FAQHow many museums are there in Quebec? There are about 450 non-profit museums and similar institutions (exhibition centres, interpretation sites) in Quebec. Approximately 300 of them are members of the Société des musées québécois.
Is there a directory to Quebec museums? Definitely! The Société des musées québécois has created an on-line directory with information on its 300 members. The SMQ also puts out an abundantly illustrated, 248-page tourist guide,
with maps and a directory. The Guide to Québec Museums, available
from the SMQ and in many museums gift shops and book stores, divides museums
up by different tourist regions.
How many people visit Quebec museums every year? About 12 million people visit Quebec’s museums every year.

to someone at the institution in question.

How can I have a piece evaluated? To get an evaluation of your pieces, contact a professional, e.g. an antique dealer, appraiser or auctioneer. If you would like to know more about and be able to identify your heirlooms, the Musée de la civilisation has a program called Patrimoine à domicile (in French), with different documentation and reference tools and even the chance to meet with collection professionals. Note that the Musée de la civilisation does not perform monetary evaluations of objects.
