From the macroscopic to the ultramicroscopic

Igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary. Rocks speak, tell tales and paint pictures.

Calcite, gypsum, quartz or topaz… minerals peek out of the ground or hide far below the surface.

From mineralogy to the study of life itself, all the complexity of the Earth is within easy reach.

How old is this fossil?

The "young" prince of Miguasha is 370 million years old. This fossil, Eusthenopteron foordi, is said to be a link between fish and tetrapods.

Dinosaurs in Quebec?

Since there are no rock formations here dating from the Triassic or Jurassic age, palaeontologists have not yet discovered any traces of dinosaurs in Quebec.

Slate, granite, bronze, copper, gold… Quebec's mines tell us about what lies under our feet.
