To discover, see and do...
At the very site where the events of the novels Les anciens Canadiens and Mémoires by Philippe Aubert de Gaspé took place, the Corporation Philippe-Aubert-de-Gaspé rebuilt the seigniorial manor in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and created the Musée de la mémoire vivante (Museum of Living Memories).
The museum is dedicated to the intangible heritage formed of life stories and other accounts. Its thematic exhibitions introduce visitors to others’ stories and are invited to record their own. Inspired by the author’s work collecting his contemporaries’ life stories, the museum’s goal is to record, safeguard and share the different stories gathered, all from an ethnological perspective.
