To discover, see and do...
Nestled on the north shore of the Outaouais River, the 70-year old Argenteuil Regional Museum is one of Quebec's oldest. The Museum is housed in the Carillon Barracks National Historic Site, a splendid Georgian building from the 1830s. Learn about the early Native, French and British settlers, through a collection of over 10,000 items from the Argenteuil region. The intriguing and moving objects, all from the area, illustrate domestic, working and military life, Fine Arts and rituals related to social and religious celebrations. As you explore the temporary and permanent exhibition spaces, you’ll make the acquaintance of famous local citizens from the lower Laurentians, including Dollard des Ormeaux, Maude Abbott and John Caldwell Abbott. The Argenteuil Regional Museum is definitely a must-see site in the verdant lower Laurentians area.
