To discover, see and do...

The Site historique maritime de la Pointe-au-Père, located at the Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse National Historic Site, is a leading promoter of regional and national maritime heritage. In a magnificent natural setting, the Site invites visitors to peruse thematic exhibitions on the circumstances that led to the sinking of the Empress of Ireland, along with a remarkable collection of artifacts recovered from the wreck. A multimedia 3D show recreates the Empress’ last transatlantic crossing and the navigational challenges of the St. Lawrence River. And you’ll want to climb to the top of the 1909 lighthouse, a jewel of technology attesting to the importance of Pointe-au-Père as one of Canada’s navigational aids.
